Question

Physics says that a body after travelling a short distance stops because of frictional force but according to some a body starts moving because of applied force to it and stops because the applied energy exhausts after travelling a certain distance.so which is true and explain why.

Solution

We know that the law of conservation of energy states that 'Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed'.
In this case, the body is given an initial energy. The body stops after using the entire initially provided energy. As energy cannot be simply wasted (as per law of conservation of energy), the energy is entirelly used by the body to overcome the frictional force provided by the surface against the body's motion.
So both the statements are true.
