Question

Pick out the solution from the values given in the brackets against each equation :
Show that the other values do not satisfy the equation.
$$5m=60$$        $$(10,5,12,15)$$

Solution

$$5m = 60$$
$$\Rightarrow m = \cfrac{60}{5} = 12$$
Hence the value of $$m = 12$$.
Now,
For $$m = 10$$
$$5 \times 10 = 50 \ne 60$$
For $$m = 5$$
$$5 \times 5 = 25 \ne 60$$
For $$m = 15$$
$$5 \times 15 = 75 \ne 60$$
Hence the other values given do not satisfy the given equation.
