As per I.S. concrete recommendation allowable load on pile is taken as 50% of the ultimate load at which settlement is $\frac{1}{10}$ of diameter of pile.

Diameter of pile = 400 mm

$\frac{1}{10}$dia = 40 mm

Load corresponding to settlement of 40 mm = 500 kN

Allowable load on pile = $0.5\times 500=250kN$
