Plant tissue culture involves in-vitro cultivation of plant tissues, cells or organs in a culture medium under aseptic conditions. When a plant part is grown on a culture medium, it forms an undifferentiated mass of cells called callus. Each callus gives rise to numerous plantlets. In a few months a large number of plants are obtained. Vegetative propagation is the process of multiplication in which a portion or fragment of the plant body functions as propagule and develops into a new individual.
