Ploidy level of endosperm is generally triploid or 3n. During double fertilisation two of the haploid central nuclei in the embryo sac fuse to form diploid primary endosperm nucleus (PEN). PEN fuses with one of the sperm entering the embryo sac which further develops into triploid endosperm tissue.
