The pollen basket or corbicula is a polished cavity surrounded by a fringe of hairs, on outside of the tibia on the hind legs of the bees. This structure is used by the bees to collect the pollen and harvest it till the return to the hives. Each leg has a pollen brush made up of branched hair or tarsomeres. The metathoracic legs have a pollen press located between the tibia and the first tarsomere. After a series of intricate manoeuvres the bee manages to transfer the pollen from the tarsomeres to the pollen basket, located on the outer surface of the tibia
