Why is the pollen tube important?
So the male gametes can reach the ovule
The pollen grain falling on the stigma germinates into a pollen tube. The pollen tube grows through the style and reaches the ovule. The pollen tube is important because it acts as a channel for transport of the sperm nuclei into the ovary. The sperm nuclei reach the ovule in the ovary and only then it can fertilise the ovum present in it.
