Turgor pressure is the pressure which is exerted by the fluid inside the cell on the cell wall. It pushes the plasma membrane against the cell wall. It is caused by the osmotic flow of water through a selectively permeable membrane. As it acts inside the cell to outside it is also known as positive hydrostatic pressure. It is opposed by equal and opposite wall pressure. So, the wall pressure is a negative pressure.
