Prameela painted the outer surface of a cabinet of measures 1 m × 2 m × 1.5 m. Find the lateral surface area she covers if she painted all except the top and bottom of the cabinet?

Prameela has painted all the surfaces except the top and the bottom of the cabinet. So she has painted the lateral faces of the cabinet.
To find the painted area we have to find the lateral surface of the cabinet.
Dimensions of the cabinet:
Length = 1 m
Breadth = 2 m
Height = 1.5 m
So, Area painted = Lateral surface area of a cabinet
= 2 × [(l × h) + (b × h)]
= 2 × [(1 × 1.5) + (2 × 1.5)]
= 2 × (1.5 + 3) = 9 m2.
