The Kingdom Protista includes a diverse group of organisms (such as algae and protozoa) that have little in common. Its members are eukaryotes, but not plants, animals, or fungi. Protists may be unicellular, colonial or multicellular. They may be consumers or producers and some switch from one form of nutrition to the other depending on conditions. All protists carry out aerobic cellular respiration in mitochondria. Most have flagella at some stage of their life cycle. Producer protists carry out photosynthesis in chloroplasts
