Question

Q. A metal sphere suspended through a nylon thread. When another charged sphere(identical to A) is brought near to A and kept at a distance d, a force of repulsion F acts between them. Now A is brought in contact with an identical charge sphere D and Sphere C and B also brought in contact with an identical uncharged sphere D and then they are separatedfrom each other. What will be the force between the spheres A and B when they are at a distance D/2?

Solution

Dear student,Suppose the first charged sphere is having charge qso it will induce same amount of opposite charge.so charge on A is qnow with contact of another uncharged sphere, chrge will se divided equally between these two spheres by q/2 and they will repel each other.so F'= kq2×q2d24=kq2d2=F and the nature is repulsive.Regards
