Solution

Dear student,

Answer: 1) coconut
Seed coat protects the embryo from mechanical injury, predators and prevent drying out due to water loss. It also prevent water penetration and germination. Seed coat may be thick and hard as in the case of coconut and honey locust or paper thin (eg. peanut, groundnut, maize, gram etc), or fleshy ( pomegranate).
