Explanation;

Land which remained under cultivation almost every year was called Polaj. When it remained uncultivated, it was called Parati(fallow). Land which had been fallow for two to three years was called chachar, and for longer than that, banjar. These were assessed at concessional rates, the revenue demand gradually rising till the full or polaj rate was paid in the fifth or the eighth year. In this way, the state helped in bringing virgin or uncultivated wasteland, under cultivation.

भूमि जो लगभग हर साल खेती के अधीन रहती थी उसे पोलज कहा जाता था। जब यह अप्रयुक्त रह जाय तो इसे परती कहा जाता था। जो भूमि दो से तीन साल से खाली हो उसे चाचर कहा जाता था, और उससे अधिक समय तक, बंजर। इस तरह की भूमि पर राजस्व रियायती दरों पर तय किया जाता था ,उसके बाद धीरे धीरे उसे बढ़ाया जाता था और 5 या 8 साल बाद पूरा या पोलज भूमि के बराबर राजस्व तय किया जाता था । इस तरह राज्य ने खेती के तहत बंजर भूमि को लाने में मदद की।
