Solve the following

A carpenter charged Rs. 2500 for making a bed. The cost of materials used is Rs. 1100 and the labour charge is Rs. 200 per hour. For how many hours did the carpenter work?

Let the carpenter worked for x h.
Given, labour charge=Rs. 200 per hour
Then, total labour charge =Rs. 200x
As, amount charged by carpenter for making a bed= Cost of materials+Total labour charge
2500=1100+200x200x=25001100200x=1400x=1400200=7
Hence, the carpenter worked for 7h.
