Question 4
What would happen to the life of a cell if there was no Golgi apparatus?
The job of the Golgi apparatus is to process and bundle macromolecules like proteins and lipids as they are synthesized within the cell. Golgi apparatus inside the cell can be compared to a sorting section in a post office. Golgi apparatus is involved in the following tasks:
1.Modifies
2.Sorts
3.Packages proteins into vesicles
Remember, it does not synthesise proteins.
If there was no Golgi apparatus,
1.Various substances would not be in a position to be transformed into the forms for further use.
2.Further, activities of certain substances, like phospholipids, would get hampered as they are an important constituent in the formation of the plasma membrane and forms new cells.
