Find the area of the shaded portion in the following figure.

Area of shaded region = Area of the parallelogram ABCD - Area of $\Delta ABE$
$\because$ Area of a parallelogram = $Side\times Height$
$\therefore$ Area of a parallelogram ABCD = $40\times 30=1200c{m}^2$
Area of $\Delta AEB=\frac{1}{2}\times AB\times EF=\frac{1}{2}\times 40\times 30=600c{m}^2$
$\therefore$ Area of shaded region = 1200 - 600 $=600c{m}^2$
