We have,
$(x^{2} + y^{2}) (x^{2} - y^{2}) = (x^{2})^{2} - (y^{2})^{2}$
[using the identity, $(a + b) (a - b) = a^{2} - b^{2}$ ]
$= x^{4} - y^{4}$
