Indian agricultural seasons are classified into three types based on the monsoons namely Rabi, Kharif and Zayad. Of the three, rabi season is called winter season because it includes winter months. Rabi crops are sown in winter and harvested in spring ailing from moths of October to March. As these crops are harvested in spring the name rabi is given which means spring in Arabic.
