Solution

The correct option is D

₹ 18

CP of one pencil = ₹ 5
CP of 12 pencils = 12 x ₹ 5 = ₹ 60

SP of 6 pencils at ₹ 6 per pencil
= 6 x ₹ 6 = ₹ 36

Remaining number of pencils = 12 - 6 = 6

SP of 6 pencils at ₹ 7 per pencil
= 6 x ₹ 7 = ₹ 42

Total SP = ₹ 36 + ₹ 42 = ₹ 78

Since SP > CP, we have a profit.

Profit = SP - CP = ₹ 78 - ₹ 60 = ₹18
