In the process of electroplating, the deposition of layers of one metal takes place on the other material. In this process, the material on which the coating is to be done is connected as an electrode to the negative terminal, and the metal used for deposition is connected to the positive terminal.

In this case, Rahul wants to add a zinc coating on the silver plate. So, the zinc plate has to be placed at 1, i.e., the positive terminal and the silver plate has to be connected to the negative terminal, i.e. at 2.

Also, the metal to be coated(Zinc) is placed into a container containing a solution of salt of the same material (Zinc). Here that salt is zinc sulphate solution (at 3).
