Let the marked price of the radio be Rs. x.
Discount offered = 20 % of x = $\frac{20}{100} \times x = \frac{x}{5} R s .$

The price of the radio after discount = $x - \frac{x}{5} = \frac{4 x}{5} R s .$

Sales tax charged = 8 % of 4x/5 = $\frac{8}{100} \times \frac{4 x}{5}$

The cost of radio, inclusive of sales tax = $[\frac{4 x}{5} + \frac{8}{100} \times \frac{4 x}{5}] = [\frac{27}{25} \times \frac{4 x}{5}]$ Rs.

Therefore,
$\frac{27}{25} \times \frac{4 x}{5} = 1296$

$x = R s . 1500$
