Solution

Dear Student,

Let the salary of Ramu be Rs. xThen, 20% increase in salary = 20100× x = x5New Salary = x+x5 = 6x5Now salary is decreased by 30% =30100× 6x5 = 9x25Now Ramu's new salary= 6x5-9x25 = 30x-9x25 = 21x25Now According to question, x-21x25 = 856025x-21x25 = 85604x25 = 8560x = 8560×254x = Rs 53,500Hence, Ramu's original salary is Rs 53,500.
