Growth is defined as the irreversible increase in the size of a cell or organ of an individual while differentiation is the specialisation of cells in such a manner that it attains a specific function which supports the metabolic functioning of the body.

Development is defined as all the changes that an organism undergoes from birth till senescence. All the three events are closely related for the growth of a plant.

Development is the sum of growth and differentiation. It is influenced by both intrinsic factors like genetic makeup, phytohormones, as well as extrinsic factors (light, temperature, nutrients etc.).
