Trophic levels:

The various steps or levels in a food chain through which the transfer of food and energy takes place from one organism to another are known as trophic levels.

  1. Or in other words, various links in the food chain can be called trophic levels.
  2. All living organisms will serve as a trophic level in different food chains.
  1. First trophic level (produce their own food)
  2. Second trophic level (depend on producers or first trophic level for food)
  3. Third trophic level (feed on herbivores or second trophic level for food)
  4. Fourth trophic level (depend on organisms from the second or third trophic level for food)

Correct order:

Phytoplankton---->zooplankton------>fish-------->seal
