Solution

Case 1: [For Reena]

Principal amount P=Rs. 60,000

Time (T)=3 years

Rate of interest (R)=10% per annum

Simple interest S.I=PRT100

=Rs. 60000×10×3100

=Rs. 18000

Case 2: [For Ruchira]

Principal amount =Rs. 50,000

Time (T)=3 years

Rate of interest (R)=10% compounded annually.

So, n=3

Now, The total amount on compounded annually is,

A=P(1+R100)n

A=Rs. 50,000(1+10100)3

A=Rs. 50,000(1+110)3

A=Rs. 50,000×(1110)3

A=Rs. 50,000×1110×1110×1110

A=Rs. 50×1331

A=Rs. 66550

Compound interest (C.I)=AP

(C.I)=Rs. 66550Rs. 50,000

(C.I)=Rs. 16,550

Therefore, Reena paid more.

More amount =Rs. 18000Rs. 16,550=Rs. 1450
