Solution

The correct option is C

Assertion is False and Reason is True

Even though Dolly’s surrogate mother and enucleated egg cell donor was a Scottish Blackface ewe, Dolly is a clone of Finn Dorset ewe. But was she a 100% clone? When we think of it the nucleus came from a Finn dorset and the cytoplasm of the egg cell was from the surrogate mother. The cytoplasm of the egg cell has mitochondrial DNA. So the clone that was formed had nuclear DNA from a Finn Dorset ewe and mitochondrial DNA from a Scottish Black ewe and that is why Dolly is not a 100% clone.
