Solution

Addition and Subtraction of decimals:

Given, that the total weight of vegetables =15kg

Weight of potato and onion =(3.5kg+2.75kg)

At first, we convert the given decimals to like decimals as 3.50,2.75,and15.00

Writing these decimals in a column form by aligning decimal points, we get

3.50+2.75_______6.25________

Weight of potato and onion=(3.5kg+2.75kg)=6.25kg

Weight of tomatoes = Total weight of vegetables - Weight of potato and onion

=15.00kg-6.25kg(Since15kg=15.00kg)

Writing these decimals in a column form by aligning decimal points, we get

15.00-6.25_______8.75_______

Therefore, weight of tomatoes is 8.75kg
