Solution
The correct option is A Lymphocytes The encounter of B cell (lymphocytes) with a specific antigen activates its clonal expansion which in turn gives rise to plasma cell and memory cells. A plasma cell is a mature B cell that serves in mass production of antibodies against a specific antigen. Memory cells are the B cells responsible for long-term immunity. Upon the second encounter of a person with the same antigen, the already present memory cells divide quickly to produce more lymphocytes which in turn quickly produce antibodies. This kind of immune response selectively targeted against a particular antigen, to which body has previously been exposed, is known as acquired immunity and it prevents second-time infection.
