Distance between Rohit and his friend's house = 2.87 km
To change kilometres into metres, we multiply by 1000;
⇒ 2.87 $\times$ 1000 = 2870 m (move the decimal point in the multiplicant by three places to the right)

Distance covered = 1500 m

Hence distance left = 2870 - 1500 = 137 m

Now to convert back to kilometres, we divide by 1000
