Solution

Samir bought a shirt for Rs 336.
This price includes 12% sales tax.
Suppose printed price of shirt = Rs x.
Then sales tax on shirt = 12% of x = 12/100 .x = 0.12x
So price of shirt including sales tax = x+0.12x = 1.12 x
So 1.12x = 336
x = 336/1.12 = Rs 300
Price of necktie including sales tax = Rs 110.
Suppose printed price of necktie = Rs y
Then sales tax on necktie = 10%of y = 10/100.y = 0.1y
Price of necktie including sales tax = y+0.1y = 1.1y
So 1.1 y = Rs 110
y = 110/1.1 = Rs 100

So printed price of shirt + necktie = Rs300+Rs100 = Rs400
Answer: Rs 400
