The given figure is a trapezium .

Lengths of parallel sides of the trapezium are 4 cm and 12 cm.
Perpendicular distance between these sides = Height = 3 cm
Area of a trapezium = $\frac{1}{2}$ (Sum of lengths of parallel sides) × (Height)
= $\frac{1}{2}$ × (4 + 12) cm × 3 cm
= 24 cm²
