$\Rightarrow$ Quarter of $a$ is $\frac{a}{4}$

So, number of sweets given to Renu $=\frac{a}{4}$

Number of sweets given to Raju $=5$

Number of sweets left $=7$

$\Rightarrow a-(\frac{a}{4}+5)=7$

$\Rightarrow a-\frac{a}{4}-5=7$

$\Rightarrow \frac{3a}{4}=12$

$\Rightarrow a=12\times \frac{4}{3}$

$\Rightarrow a=4\times 4$

$\Rightarrow a=16$

$\therefore$ Sekhar started with $16$ sweets.
