Solution

The correct option is A D only
Mendel’s work was independently rediscovered by three botanists - Hugo DeVries, Carl Correns and Erich von Tschermak in 1900. They were working on different plant hybrids and review of the literature before publishing their own results led them to Mendel's old papers. They named the laws as Mendel’s laws of inheritance and got it published in “Flora” in 1901. The chromosomal theory of inheritance was proposed by Sutton and Boveri in 1903 which states that genes are present on chromosomes and homologous chromosomes separate during anaphase-I of meiosis resulting in segregation of alleles of a gene controlling the contrasting traits. William Bateson coined the term “genetics” for the branch of science that study inheritance and variations in organisms. Darwin proposed the theory of natural selection to explain the process of evolution and is regarded as a father of evolution. Wallace proposed “survival of fittest” to explain the process of evolution which refers to the unequal ability of individuals to survive and reproduce based on suitability of their inherited characters to prevailing environmental conditions. Thus, the correct answer is option A.
