Solution

C.P of 16 dozen ball pens = S.P of 16 dozen pens - loss
C.P of 16×12 pens=S.P of 16 dozen pens×S.P of 8 pens
C.P of 192 pens =S.P of16×12 pens×S.P of 8 pens
S.P of 192 pens + S.P of 8 pens
=S.P of 200 pens
(i) Let C.P of 1 pen = Re. 1
Then C.P of 192 pens = Rs. 192
and S.P of 200 pens = Rs. 192
S.P of 1 pen =Rs.192200=Rs.2425
Loss = C.P - S.P =Re.1Rs.2425
=252425=Rs.125
Loss%=125×100C.P=1×10025×=4%

(ii) C.P of 16 dozen pens = Rs. 576
C.P of 1 dozen pens =Rs.57616
S.P of 1 dozen pens =Rs.57616×1004100
=Rs.57616×96100=Rs.576×6100=3456100=Rs.34.56
