Question

Shivaji galloped with his horse for 21 km. He crossed the river which was 13 the length he covered with the horse. Since his horse developed an injury, he had to trudge along with his horse and cover the remaining distance which was 4 times the breadth of the river. Calculate the total distance covered by him.

Solution

The breadth of the River =13×21

=7 km

Length covered by trudging =4(13 of 21) km

4(7 km)

28 km

Hence, the total distance covered by Shivaji = 21 km + 7 km + 28 km

28 km + 28 km

= 56 kms.
