Let the age of Shona be $x$ .
Then, age of Shona's mother will be $4 x$ .
After five years, their ages will be $4 x + 5$ and $x + 5$ respectively.
As per question, we have
$4 x + 5 = 3 (x + 5)$
$\Rightarrow 4 x + 5 = 3 x + 15$
$\Rightarrow 4 x - 3 x = 15 - 5$
$\Rightarrow x = 10$
Thus age of Shona is $10$ years.
Age of Shona's mother will be $4 x = 4 \times 10 = 40$ years.
