A patient has a tumour in the adrenal coftex that continuously secretes large amounts of aldosterone. What effects does this have on the total amount of sodium and potassium in her body?

This is a case of hyperaldosteronism. As aldosterone is concerned with the retention of sodium and excretion of potassium, its high level will result in increased sodium (hypernatremia) and decreased potassium (hypokalemia) in the body.
