  • There are three types of muscle occurs in the body of a vertebrate are skeletal or striated, cardiac, and smooth.
  • Muscle action can be classified as being either voluntary or involuntary.
  • Striated muscle tissue is a muscle tissue that features repeating functional units called sarcomeres, in contrast with smooth muscle tissue which does not.
  • The presence of sarcomeres manifests as a series of bands visible along the muscle fibres, which is responsible for the striated appearance observed in microscopic images of this tissue.
  • There are 3 types of striated muscles:
  1. Pharyngeal muscle (embryologically different from skeletal muscle)
  2. Cardiac muscle (heart muscle)
  3. Skeletal muscle.
