1. During the rule of the Chola dynasty, Thanjavur was the capital city. It was an important centre for administration.
2.The Cholas had an excellent system of administration.The king was at the top of the administration.He had a council of ministers o assist him.
3. Administrative regions were divided into provinces( Mandalam) which were further divided into Nadu.The Nadu performed several administrative functions like looking after collection of taxes and giving justice.The Nadus had a group of settlement and villages. under their control which were known as "Ur".
4. Brahmins were gifted land which were in selected areas where their dominance was in vogue.Such areas were well administered by Sabhas. The Brahmins were educated so hey maintained records and inscriptions on stones or temple walls.
5. In certain areas association of traders known as Nagarams also performed administrative functions.
