Question

Show that electrical appliances having higher power (at fixed voltage) draws a larger current.

Solution

Concept Used: Electric Power

Body of the solution:

Electric Power is the product of current and voltage.

PowerP=CurrentI×VoltageV

At fixed Voltage (Hence, substituting Ohm's law V=IR)

Therefore, PowerP=I2R

By formula, Power is directly proportional to the square of the Current. The higher the power, the greater will be the current. Hence, electrical appliances having higher power draw a larger current.
