Electric Power is the product of current and voltage.

$\mathrm{Power}\mathrm{P}=\mathrm{Current}\mathrm{I}\times \mathrm{Voltage}\mathrm{V}$

At fixed Voltage (Hence, substituting Ohm's law $\mathrm{V}=\mathrm{IR}$)

Therefore, $\mathrm{Power}\mathrm{P}={\mathrm{I}}^2\mathrm{R}$

By formula, Power is directly proportional to the square of the Current. The higher the power, the greater will be the current. Hence, electrical appliances having higher power draw a larger current.
