Shruti lent some money to Pallavi at 5% p.a. simple interest. Pallavi lent the whole amount to Niki on the same day at 812% p.a. In this transaction after a year, Pallavi earned a profit of Rs. 350. Find the sum of money lent by Shruti to Pallavi.
Let x be the amount Shruti lends to Pallavi.
Interest SI1 to be paid bt Pallavi after 1 year is PRT100
where, P=x,R=5% (given),T=1
SI1=(x×5×1)100=x20
Now, Pallavi lent the same amount to Niki at 8.5% rate for the same period 1 year.
Interest SI2 to be paid by Niki will be given by
SI2=(x×8.5×1)100=17x200
Given that Pallavi earned a profit of Rs.350
⇒SI2−SI1=350⇒7x200=350⇒x=10000
∴ Shruti lent Rs.10000 to Pallavi.
