10x² – 3xy + 9y² – (3x² – 6xy – 3y²)
= 10x² – 3xy + 9y² + (-3x² + 6xy + 3y²)
= 10x² – 3xy + 9y² – 3x² + 6xy + 3y²
= (10x² – 3x²) + (- 3xy + 6xy) + (9y² + 3y²)
= x²(10 – 3) + xy(-3 + 6) + y²(9 + 3)
= x²(7) + xy(3) + y²(12)
Hence, the degree of the expression is 2.
