Motivation is the process of inspiring workers to work hard for the achievement of desired goals. It is the result of interaction between human needs and incentives offered to satisfy them.
Abraham H. Maslow had developed a classification of human needs known as Hierarchy of Needs. They can be classified into five categories. They are as follows:
  1. Physiological needs
  2. Security needs
  3. Social needs
  4. Esteem needs
  5. Self-actualization needs
