Solution

Sodium metals when dissolved in ammonia gives a conducting blue coloured solution. This is conductivity is due to presence of solvated electrons.
In dilute solutions, the cation appears to be Na+, probably solvated as Na(NH3)m+, and the anion NH3 or (NH3)n which also contributes to the colour.
