Solids are hard and rigid.

Open in App
Solution

  1. In solids, the molecules are closely packed and each molecule has a fixed position.
  2. The force of attraction between the particles of molecules of solids is so strong that they cannot move freely, but they constantly vibrate.
  3. Each molecule in solids vibrates about its fixed position with small amplitudes.
  4. So solids are rigid and have a definite shape and volume.
  5. Solids cannot be easily compressed and do not flow.
