Question

Solve for x and y:
2xy+3=0
3x5y+1=0

Open in App
Solution

2x-y= -3 --(1)
3x-5y= -1 --(2)
Multiplying (1) by 5
10x-5y= -15 --(3)

Subtracting (3) and (2)
10x-5y= -15
3x-5y= -1

7x= -14
x= -2

Plugging in x= -2 in (1), we get
-4-y= -3
-y= 1
y= -1

So, x= -2, y= -1
