Let x+1x=k
(x+1x)2=k2x2+1x2=k22

So, the above equation would become
2(k22)9k+14=02k29k+10=02k24k5k+10=02k(k2)5(k2)=0(2k5)(k2)=0k=2,52

x+1x=2x22x+1=0x=1,1

x+1x=52x25x2+1=02x25x+2=02x24xx+2=02x(x2)1(x2)=0(2x1)(x2)=0x=12,2

So, x equals 1,12,2.
