Solving the equation

A statement of equality which involves one or more variables is called an equation.

Given equation is 7x=28

RHS of the equation is a whole number .

In LHS, a whole number 7 is multiplied with a number x.

Thus we need to guess several values of to find the values of LHS that becomes equal to RHS as shown in the following table.

xLHS=7xRHS=28
17×1=728
27×2=1428
37×3=2128
47×4=2828

For x=4,LHS=RHS.

Thus x=4 is the solution of the equation.

Hence, the solution of the equation 7x=28 is x=4
