Question

Solve the following by substitution method

6x+5y=11

9x+10y=21

Open in App
Solution

6x + 5y = 11

x = (11-5y) / 6 ------ 1

9x + 10y = 21 ------ 2

put 1 in 2

9(11 - 5y)/6 + 10y = 21

(33 - 15y)/2 + 10y = 21

multipling by 2

33 - 15y + 20y = 42

5y = 42 - 33 = 9

y = 9/5

x = 11 - 5(9/5) / 6

x = (11- 9)/6 = 2/6 = 1/3
