Solve the following pair of equation by the elimination method.

$x+y=14,x-y=4$

$x+y=14$ .....(1)

$x-y=4$ ......(2)

On adding 1 and 2, we get,

$2x=18$

$x=9$

Putting this value in equation 2, we get,

$9-y=4$

$y=5$

Hence, $x=9$ and $y=5$.
